Injury crash on Interstate 84 near Maple Grove overpass

On March 19, 2013, at approximately 2:24 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a rollover, injury crash on Interstate 84 at mile marker 49, near the Maple Grove overpass.

Richard Hersh, 63, of Sweet, ID, was driving east on Interstate 84 in a 1993 Jeep Cherokee. Jaime Hastings, 27, of Boise, ID, was driving east on Interstate 84 in a 2007 Saturn Ion. Hersh swerved into the lane occupied by Hastings, and then back into his lane. In an attempt to avoid colliding with Hersh, Hastings swerved and lost control of her vehicle. She then crossed into Hersh?s lane and was struck by Hersh?s vehicle. The two right lanes of the eastbound side of the Interstate were blocked for approximately one hour. Hastings was transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke?s Medical Center in downtown Boise. Hersh and his two passengers, Brenna Pratt-Hersh, 21, of Sweet, ID, and William Ashton, 44, of Emmett, ID, were transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

All occupants were wearing their seatbelts. The crash is under investigation.
