At approximately 10:55 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a 17 vehicle crash on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 at milepost 194, east of Hazelton. The chain-reaction crash involved 8 commercial vehicles and 9 passenger cars. No injuries were reported. Heavy fog and icy conditions contributed to the cause of the crash. The Interstate was blocked for approximately 6 hours while units worked to clear the lanes of travel. The Interstate is once again open in both directions. The eastbound lanes will be restricted to 1 lane while crews continue to recover vehicles involved in this crash. This restriction is expected to last through tomorrow.
