On November 27, 2012, at approximately 12:45 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle crash on I84 at milepost 142, near Bliss. William Maroon, 68 of Harrisburg, Oregon, was driving eastbound in a 2012 Freightliner semi truck. Maroon drove off the right shoulder and overcorrected. The semi tipped onto its side, sliding, and coming to rest in the median and both eastbound lanes.

Maroon was wearing his seatbelt. He was transported to North Canyon Medical Center. He was cited for Inattentive Driving. Both eastbound lanes were blocked for approximately one and a half hours while crews worked to clear the scene. The left lane is still blocked for the investigation, which is ongoing.
