At this time, the Idaho State Police is investigating a small leak in a commercial vehicle containing hazardous materials. Commercial Vehicle Specialist Anderson of the Idaho State Police pulled over a truck and trailer for a traffic violation eastbound I84 at milepost 215, approximately one mile west of the Minidoka/Cassia County line. During a subsequent inspection of the vehicle, Specialist Anderson discovered a small leak near the front of the trailer. As a precautionary measure, traffic was blocked for approximately one hour until the vehicle could be moved to a more secluded location. Until the company responsible for shipping the materials can respond and patch the leak, the vehicle will remain in a gravel pit operated by the Idaho Transportation Department, while absorbent material is used to contain the leaking liquid. It is unknown at this time what kind of material is leaking. More information will be relayed as it becomes available.
