On September 1, 2012, at approximately 5:15 p.m., a single vehicle crash occurred on the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 near milepost 225, east of Burley. A 2007 Honda Accord, driven by Rosemarie Edvalson, 56 of Eagle, was traveling westbound, when she changed lanes after passing another vehicle. Edvalson's vehicle then hydroplaned in a large puddle that formed in the lanes of travel due to severe weather that was occurring in the area. Edvalson's vehicle flipped and landed upside-down off of the roadway in a large amount of standing water. Edvalson and her passenger, Juanita Spitzer, 75 of Nampa, were extricated and transported to Cassia Regional Medical center for treatment of their injuries. Both occupants were wearing their seatbelts.

The right lane of travel was blocked for approximately 2 hours while officers investigated the crash.
