On July 19, 2012, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a crash on Interstate 184, at approximately milepost 1.5, between Cole Rd. and Emerald Rd. Rick D. Peterson, 21, of Nampa, was driving west in a 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage. For unknown reasons, Peterson's vehicle collided with a concrete barrier on the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then traveled across all of the lanes and collided with another concrete barrier on the left side of the roadway.

Also in the vehicle were passengers Christopher L. Chavez, 21, of Boise, Aeilla L. Yerby, 16, of Meridian, and Daisia A. Titus, 19, of Nampa. Peterson, Yerby, and Titus were transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this crash. Peterson, Titus, and Chavez were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Peterson and Titus had to be extricated from the vehicle.

The investigation is continuing.
