On June 10, 2012, at approximately 7:49 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash on State Highway 24 near Dietrich, Idaho. Oscar F. Noriega, 69 years old, of Rupert, operating an agricultural semi truck, was traveling west on State Highway 24. Brody M. Astle, 17 years old, of Dietrich, operating a 1997 Mazda Pickup, was traveling south on 750 E.

Astle pulled out from a stop sign and was struck by Noriega's vehicle on the driver's side. Both vehicles came to rest on the south west side of the intersection. Astle, and his passenger, Cooper L. Astle, 16 years old, were taken to St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls.

Noriega was wearing a seatbelt, however, the occupants of Astle's vehicle were not. Alcohol does not appear to be factor in this crash. This crash is still under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
