Brian A. Pokorney, 36 years old, of Caldwell, Idaho, was driving a 2004 Dodge Pickup when an extension ladder fell out of the back of his truck onto the Interstate near mile post 35 going west.

Mark M. Olsen, 50 years old, of Nampa , Idaho, driving a Chevrolet Suburban, pulled over to retrieve the ladder. Before exiting , his vehicle was side swiped by a semi driven by David L. Mickey, 42 of Lamar, Colorado, who was trying to avoid the ladder as well.

Both the semi and the suburban ended up in the median with the front of the semi partially blocking a lane on the east side for about two hours.
