Injury Crash NB I15 South of Inkom

On January 21, 2012 at 8:37 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash northbound on I15 at mile marker 55.2, south of Inkom.

Steven A. Shade, 60 of Ogden, UT, was traveling northbound on I15 in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado when he lost control of his vehicle on the wet pavement. The rear of Shade's vehicle struck the guardrail on the right shoulder and then a passing 2003 Kenworth semi tractor pulling a 2006 Wilson trailer which was also traveling northbound. Upon impact, the driver of the tractor and trailer, C.J. Palmer, 29 of Rupert, lost control of his vehicle. Both the semi truck and the pickup truck traveled through the guardrail and down a 50 foot steep embankment coming to rest at the bottom.

Shade and Palmer were both transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center along with Shade's passenger, Tyson W. Shade, 25 of Ogden, UT. Both Steven and Tyson were wearing their seatbelts. Palmer was not wearing his seatbelt.

Northbound lanes of I15 are no longer blocked.

Idaho State Police is on scene with a crash northbound I15 at mile marker 55.2, south of Inkom. Tow truck personnel are on scene working to remove the wreckage. At this time northbound lanes of travel on I15 have been reduced to one lane.
