Crash on SH55 Sends 7 to the Hospital

On Sunday, December 11, 2011, at approximately 3:30pm the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury crash on State Highway 55 at mile maker 84, just prior to the Boise/Valley County Line. Bryan Ritchie, 30, of Cambridge was traveling northbound on SH55 in a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. Shelby Coiner, 17, of Boise, was traveling southbound on SH55 in a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse when for unknown reasons lost control of her vehicle and drove into oncoming traffic striking Ritchie's vehicle head-on. Ritchie and 2 juvenile passengers from his vehicle were transported by ambulance to Cascade Medical Center where they were treated and released. Coiner was transported by air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus with non-life threatening injuries. Her passengers, Cearful Speight, 18, and Seth Knudsen, 17, both from Boise and Jeffery Jones, 18 from Nampa, were transport by ambulance to Saint Alphonsus in Eagle with non-life threatening injuries. It is unknown if seatbelts were worn at this time.

This crash is under investigation by Trooper West with the Idaho State Police. He is assisted by Sergeant Smith and Trooper Beckner.
