On Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 10:05 am, Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 at milepost 172, one mile west of the Twin Falls interchange.

John Wakley, age 44 of Twin Falls, was traveling west on Interstate 84 when a commercial vehicle pulling a trailer in front of him slowed to turn around, improperly using a marked emergency vehicle crossover. Wakley could not slow his vehicle in time so he veered right to avoid a collision. Wakley's vehicle, a 1986 International tractor pulling a flatbed trailer loaded with hay, left the road off the right shoulder and overturned. Wakley was able to avoid colliding with any other vehicles and he was not injured when his vehicle overturned.

The crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police. Troopers are still trying to determine the driver and vehicle information of the vehicle that slowed to use the emergency crossover and caused the crash. Troopers believe it was a commercial vehicle being used for the Interstate 84 construction project in the area and are working with the construction company to complete the investigation.
