*********Update 12:39pm *************

On Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at 8:50am, the Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle crash at the US93 / US30 Junction in Twin Falls County. Carl Polk, 69 from Lufkin, Texas, was merging onto eastbound US30 from US93. Polk realized he did not want to be on US30 while driving up the onramp. Polk attempted to make a U-turn from the merging lane by cutting through the gore and crossing through eastbound traffic. Amber Kemp, 36 from Buhl, ID, driving a 2003 Ford Explorer, was traveling eastbound on US30 and hit Polk in the front driver's side of the GMC Yukon while traveling in the left/fast lane. The Yukon came to rest upright in the eastbound lane and the Explorer came to rest in the westbound lane, blocking 3 lanes for approximately 20 minutes. One westbound lane was eventually opened for traffic to pass. All lanes were reopened for traffic at 10:55 am. Kemp was transported to St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls with minor injuries. Polk was not transported and was cited for reckless driving. Alcohol was not a factor, and both subjects were wearing seatbelts. The crash is under investigation by Tpr. B Comorosky with assistance from Tpr. T. DeBie, Sgt. K. Thompson, and Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office and EMS.
