On Saturday, August 13, 2011, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle crash on I86 near the Seagull Bay exit. William Dinsmore, 59 of Elmira, California, was eastbound near milepost 44 in a 2008 Chrysler Pacifica with two passengers, Thomas Page, 51, and Anthony Bravo, 50, both of Vacaville, California. Dinsmore fell asleep at the wheel and drifted into the median. He then attempted to drive back onto the roadway, overcorrected, and struck a guardrail. Bravo, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and landed on the roadway. He was transported by ground ambulance to Harms Memorial in American Falls and later transferred by air ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center. Both Dinsmore and Page were wearing their seatbelts and were uninjured. The left lane was blocked for approximately an hour while crews worked to clear the scene.
The crash is still under investigation by Corporal Barnes, who was assisted at the scene by Sergeant Manning, Power County Deputies, and EMS.
