On Sunday, August 21, 2011, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 55 near Banks. Joshua Fuhriman, 15, was northbound in a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle near milepost 74 when he drifted off the right shoulder. He overcorrected, steered into oncoming traffic, and then overcorrected again, driving off the roadway and into the side of the hill. Joshua, as well as his two passengers, Cindy Fuhriman, 34, and Maicel Fuhriman, 13, all of Garden Valley, were wearing their seatbelts. Joshua and Cindy were transported by ground ambulance.
