On Saturday July 9, 2011, at approximately 3:54 pm the Idaho State Police investigated a one vehicle motorcycle crash eastbound on Interstate 84 at milepost 212, one mile east of the Heyburn exit. Benjamin Fecher, 50 of Seattle, Washington was traveling eastbound on his 1999 Honda Valkyrie motorcycle. Fecher was in the process of negotiating a lane change when his rear tire blew. Fecher lost control and was thrown from the motorcycle, causing both to skid. Fecher came to rest in the right lane and the motorcycle came to rest in the left lane. Both eastbound lanes were blocked for approximately 25 minutes, the right lane was then opened and the left lane blocked for another hour for the investigation. Fecher was transported via ground ambulance to Minidoka Memorial Hospital in Rupert with non life threatening injuries. Fecher was wearing a helmet.

This crash is under investigation by Sergeant Thompson of the Idaho State Police with assistance from Minidoka County Sheriff's Office, Heyburn Police and Minidoka EMS.
