2010 Crime In Idaho Report released

The Idaho State Police Bureau of Criminal Identification released their annual "Crime in Idaho" report for 2010 today (7/1/11). The report is a synopsis of statewide crime statistics gathered from law enforcement agencies across Idaho and includes such things as the Statewide Crime Profile, Crimes against Persons, Property, Society, the Arrest Profile, Hate Crime in Idaho, Law Enforcement Officers Killed or Assaulted, crimes categorized by jurisdiction and many other statistics.

Here are some of the highlights from the "Facts at a Glance" page and the changes from 2009:

Group "A" Offenses - Down - 1.6% from 2009

Crime Rate - 5179.8 per 100,000 inhabitants (based on Group "A" offenses)
Down - 2.3%

Violent Crime - 3,248 violent crime offenses reported.
down - 10.9%

Crimes Against Persons - 18,245 reported crimes against persons.
Down - 5.5%

Officers Assaulted - In 2010, no Idaho law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty.
227 total assaults on Idaho law enforcement officers.
Down - 8.8%

Hate Crime - 31 reported hate crime incidents in Idaho for 2010.
down - 11.4%

Crimes Against Society - 14,701 reported crimes against society.
up - 7.3%

Property Crime - 47,561 reported crimes against property.
Down - 2.6%
