On Monday, June 6,2011, the Idaho State Police investigated a semi truck jackknifed on SH55 just south of the Boise County/Valley County line. Anatoliy Khrystyuk, 39 years old from Meridian, was southbound on SH55 near mile marker 85. He was driving a 2001 International truck pulling a 1998 Great Dane box trailer registered to Diamond Line Delivery System. Khrystyuk went off the right shoulder of the road, over corrected, drove left of center and drove off the left shoulder of the road. The semi broke through the guardrail and jackknifed, narrowly missing going into the Payette River. A small diesel fuel leak resulted when one of the truck's gas tanks ruptured. Khrystyuk said he was fatigued and believes he may have fallen asleep. Seat belts were worn and alcohol is not believed to be a factor. Khrystyuk was cited for inattentive driving.

The scene is still being cleaned up and traffic is down to one lane while the cleanup is finished and the truck is up-righted and removed. Caution is advised if driving through this area.

The crash is under investigation by Cpl. D. Anthony and Sr. Tpr. M. Sherbondy.
