On Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at approximately 11:00 PM, the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury crash west bound on Interstate I84 at milepost 195 near the Hazelton exit.

The driver of a semi with a trailer was traveling west bound when for unknown reasons they left the lane of travel. The semi then went through the guardrail and into a canal where it caught fire.

A second vehicle, driven by James Hakin, 34, of Reno, NV, was traveling west bound when he struck the steering axle of the semi that was in the lane of travel.

The driver of the semi was transported by air ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls with unknown injuries. James was uninjured.

Both west bound lanes were blocked for approximately one hour; one of the west bound lanes will be closed throughout the night and into Wednesday morning for repairs to the guardrail.

The name of the semi driver will be released once it has been obtained.

This crash is under investigation by Trooper Nye with assistance from Trooper Chandler, and Jerome County Sherriff and EMS.
