On February 19, 2011, at approximately 3:26 p.m., Trooper Tyler Barrett, of the Idaho State Police, made a traffic stop on a Silver 2002 Toyota Tacoma for a window tint violation. The vehicle was stopped westbound I84 at mile post 219 in Cassia County.

Barrett interviewed the driver Sergio Gomez, 38, of Aspen, Colorado. During the course of the interview a Cassia County K9 unit arrived on scene. The K9 was deployed and alerted on the rear of the truck. Barrett became suspicious of criminal activity and received permission from Sergio to search the vehicle. The search resulted in locating a hidden utility compartment behind the driver's seat. Rolled inside a sock was a bundle of $100 bills to the amount of $7,300. Gomez was unable to provide receipts or explain the reason for the large amount of hidden cash. As a result Idaho State Police seized the $7,300 pending further investigation.

Trooper Barrett was assisted by Cassia County during the search. This incident is still under investigation at this time.
