On January 25, 2011 at approximately 3:43 p.m. the Idaho State Police investigated a head on collision on US93 at milepost 57, near the intersection of East 200 South, in Jerome County. Shanon Harbaugh, 37, of Twin Falls was northbound on US93 in a Silver Chrysler PT Cruiser driving recklessly, when for unknown reasons she crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a semi being driven by Jose Carrillo-Serna, 25, of American Falls. The PT Cruiser impacted the rear dual tires of the power unit, then traveled down the side of the trailer and finally impacted the dual tires on the trailer of the semi. The final impact spun the PT Cruiser all the way around, causing it to travel down the westbound side of the highway, where it came to rest facing north in a field.

Harbaugh was trapped inside and had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was transported to St. Lukes Magic Valley in Twin Falls with minor injuries. The driver of the semi did not suffer any injuries and remained on scene with mechanics to repair the tires. It is unknown if either driver were wearing their seatbelt, and if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. Both lanes of US93 were shut down for approximately two hours with traffic rerouted while the vehicles were being removed from the highway.

The crash is still under investigation by Trooper N. Walker who was assisted at the scene by Trooper Otto, as well as Jerome County deputies paramedics.
